Atom
The name Atom applies to two
different standards that are related. The Atom Syndication Format
is an XML language used for web feeds, while the Atom Publishing
Protocol is a simple HTTP-based protocol for creating and updating
Web resources.
iTunes uses RSS 2.0 plus some additional tags. Note that the
additional tags are not required, but are recommended where needed
in order to provide the best possible user experience like in
iTunes. iTunes U will generate & manage the RSS feeds, so
not additional coded required.
